Four bags of groceries for…

I bought significantly less groceries today than usual, mostly to save money, and guess how much just those four bags cost me?

$108.

Yes, for just four bags. I was hoping to stay at most in the double digits. But nope. To be fair, I did get sea scallops, which aren’t cheap, but that was really the only expensive thing. And I also went to Publix, which is more expensive than Kroger or TJ’s…but still. $108 for just four bags? This inflation is getting insane…

Do you have any Aldi stores nearby? I save quite a bit there. They don’t have a lot of name brands but most everything I buy is good.

@cherokeepatti Yep. They always have great prices on produce, breads, milk and eggs. And their produce selection is outstanding with their expanded store newer layouts. Also dry cereals, and fresh frozen fish. Well, practically everything.

One habit I have there is to count the BMWs. Audis, Lexus. Mercedes parked in the parking lot.

@cherokeepatti There is one semi-close. I just always forget to bring my own bag and a quarter…

@RopinTexan I keep bags in the trunk of my car (including a couple of heavy duty insulated ones) and quarters in the little coin holder thing under my door handle in my car. It would be worth your while even if you had to buy some of their bags or could find some boxes to pack your groceries in.

@cherokeepatti The ones near here usually just put their empty cardboard boxes near the checkout lines, so not having a tote-bag or sack is no big deal.

Maybe I live in a super-charitable community, but it's also common for departing shoppers to gift there shopping carts to arriving shoppers. Once someone hands you a free cart, you feel obligated to gift it to someone else when leaving.
