Expensive jewelry is such a shitty idea. Like bruh, you can buy a necklace made of tungsten or titanium for a tiny fraction of the price and it'll look just as good, the fuck are you doin'?

I have a friend from Thailand that works in a Walmart store near her home. She likes to wear gold earrings and chunky gold necklaces with diamonds or rubies….has quite a collection that she mostly keeps in a lockbox at her bank. Good thing too, she went somewhere with her husband and when they came home their house had been burglarized. Mostly they got costume jewelry…not much of value. She stopped wearing her gold jewelry except for small earrings & her wedding ring thinking she was going to get mugged in the parking lot going home or getting out of her car. About a month after the house was burglarized she got in her car to go to work and a sketchy couple came up to her car before she backed out of her driveway and asked to borrow her phone. She told them she didn’t have one so they would leave. Made her fearful that they were going to take her phone & steal it or worse mug her after they got her phone and steal her ring & earrings. To me it’s not worth getting attacked or worrying about losing.

@cherokeepatti many people have a place where they keep all their valuable jewelry in because it was passed down from generations but they never wear because of that fear... at this point this stuff is useless. Maybe my grandmas are right and I should start wearing mine because what's the point of it? But on the other hand I live in a high crime area and as you said getting attacked for it isn't worth it. At least with all this faux bijoux being popular many people aren't able to recognize which one is real amymore lol

@HannibalAteMeOut To me it’s not worth getting attacked for. I heard over 20 years ago that in the Philippines that women shouldn’t be riding buses (or in most public places) in cities with frequent stops and wearing gold jewelry. The thieves will reach in the open windows to snatch their jewelry and if it’s rings they will use a pair of bolt cutters to cut off their finger and grab the ringed finger. There was a man here in my city in Oklahoma that got his ring taken off his finger by a mugger when he walked out of a doctor’s clinic to his car and it was in broad daylight.

@cherokeepatti yeah my grandma's cross necklace was snatched like that just when she was at the door of her building in broad daylight too, we're glad it was easy to take because the thief could have easily used force.

Haha xD a few months ago, someone ik stole his aunt's gold so he can sell em and get xtc and weed. 😝
My best friend stole money from all his family and got me 2 xtc pills and paid us for the party's entrance.
I was hesitant to accept it bcz i didn't want to participate in his karma but this was like 2 years ago and nothing bad happened. My life is pretty screwed up right now but i don't think it's bcz of it

basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
The only expensive jewelry in my family are heirlooms. I don't wear expensive jewelry, just stainless steel ones.
empanadas · 31-35, M
They from are a time when gold probably was like 50 cents. However, sounds like they would appreciate how rappers dressed.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@empanadas every family in my village has a story about finding gold in the mountains lmao ah the good old times
empanadas · 31-35, M
@HannibalAteMeOut I wish we can do that now. Shit most people nowadays can't even buy a home.
