I remember bluechip stamps even better...

I was never allowed to get anything though. That was Mom's thing.

@DeWayfarer I don't think they had those where I grew up.

@PhoenixPhail mostly a Thrifty Mart grocery store thing. That was where mom did her grocery shopping.

@DeWayfarer Yep, we didn't have those where I grew up.

@PhoenixPhail You missed out on 5¢ ice cream cones then. 🙃
The grocery stores turned into thrifty drug stores.

@DeWayfarer I've had a 5¢ ice cream cone.
When I was, I guess, 7 or 8 years old, my dad and my brother and I stopped on the highway at a small stand. I got a chocolate ice cream cone. It was HUGE. I couldn't believe in cost only a nickle. Back then, that same cone in town would probably have cost at least 50¢. That was back in the 50s.

@PhoenixPhail Thifty drug stores keep the ice cream well into the 2000s. Though they did raise the price to 10¢ and then a quarter I believe.
Eventually they sold out to I believe Right aide.
