They Have These Insulated Covered Cups At Aldi Stores For Only $4.99 Each This Week…
I brought the boy with me, I bought one for me, for Ray and for the boy…
Took mine to chemo with me Friday so I could make chamomile tea in it while I was having chemo. I put 2 tea bags of chamomile in it and poured hot water from the insulated water bottle I bought at the discount store for only $2 (I’m such a cheapskate)….the water was still piping hot and it stayed hot in that cup too. I also brought a metal straw that the boy bought a 5-pack at the same discount store last year and used the straw to sip the tea. The cup seems leakproof. I put water in it and turned it upside down and it didn’t leak at all. Which is a good thing when you are in chemo, don’t want to knock it over and have a spill on the floor.

@Musicman Ray took me there and went with me for the lab, to go to the oncologist reception desk and sign an updated consent form for treatment and then back down to the chemo waiting area. He stayed with me till I started getting juiced up for about a half hour. I kept telling him to leave and go to car lot, the boy had opened it up for him and answered calls etc. So he left and came back about 30 minutes before it finished. I had to sign in for the lab at 8:30, they started the chemo at 10:00 and got finished at 1:00.
I had my Ipad and used it while waiting for chemo to end, made 2 tea bags of chamomile tea, ate yogurt and some berries and trail mix.
@Musicman I brought my wheeled carry-on bag because carrying the chemo pump to return, magazines to donate, bottled water, a flask with water, that cup, my food with an ice box to keep it cool, my chair pad was getting too heavy for either of us to carry around. I saw an elderly woman waiting for someone to pick her up last time and she was pulling a carry-on size container with her. I imagine she had the same thoughts as I did. And I would tell people I liked it so much there that I was moving in for good. 😂
@Musicman The oncologist signed me up with the insurance for 7 treatments, and chemo is every two weeks. I may end up getting targeted chemo for the DNA of the tumors if the testing of the tumor they removed during my surgery shows a match for the testing drug. Then it will take longer because it’s a process. They gave me an example of the schedule I would have to follow and go up there for several weeks or months for that.
Ray is doing good. We both are for the most part considering everything. We have to take care of one another may be part of the reason why, pretty good motivation. His chemos are 3 weeks apart, his next one is this Wednesday. His doctor mentioned about 6 treatments.
@Musicman Yes I do. I can drive but not for a couple days after my treatments, which is on the weekends. I don’t even want to go anywhere with a chemo pump hanging on my side. Haven’t told anyone in my family or who knows my family that I had cancer two years ago. I don’t want it to get back to my sisters. They can create chaos pretending to care in bad situations like this.
@Musicman He had a follow-up checkup after his lung biopsy and he wouldn’t let me go with him, told me to stay home. The boy was still off for summer break and he had him go up there with him instead of me.
@Musicman No, not at all. I had been going with him to see the doctor and for the biopsy plus my own medical visits and P-T scan and follow up and he wanted me to stay home and rest.
@Musicman He took me to every visit and every treatment and procedure all the way through my cancer. He only lets me drive to the primary care doctor and two places that are in south Moore when I need to go there.
@cherokeepatti That's really nice. Every since C was diagnosed last year she hasn't driven at all. When I had my two colonoscopies I had to find a ride. ☹
@Musicman He did so much more than that for me. Bought me things that I needed such as this nice lift chair, expensive memory foam cushions for me to sit on, and other things he thought that I needed. He would call every day and ask me if I needed anything from a store before he came home and he would do the supper dishes, and sometimes cook or bring something already cooked home, etc. Plus he got me another car after the car accident destroyed mine.
