In the 60s this was the norm, much to our teChers' disapproval!

I remember my sister getting sent home for a skirt that was too short, it was a whole 2 inches above the knee, the tart!

@donontario We didn't get sent home if our skirts were too short, we got the slipper or, for persistent offenders, the cane.

@Sharon When I was at school there were regular slipperings of girls for having skirts too short.

@Sharon We had to bus to school, so being sent home meant our dad leaving work, picking her up and driving her home. Dad was the kindest man I knew but that trip was probably not joyful. The slipper would have been a kindness I think.
