Lingerie turns into underwear when you wear clothes overtop of your lingerie. At that point, lingerie turns into underwear because that's what it's doing... it's now acting as 'under' wear, not 'outer' wear.
When lingerie is worn exclusively to serve as 'outer' wear, only then is it classified as lingerie.
When lingerie is worn exclusively to serve as 'outer' wear, only then is it classified as lingerie.
