My Wife has over the years amassed a WIDE variety of intimate sleepwear.. elegant chemises to full length gowns and everything in between..teddies both with and without openings at the bottom... sheer to opaque, silk, polyester, nylon and cotton, some embroidered some lace trimmed.. She has a huge variety of panties to wear with the chemises to gowns.. tap panties with wide leg openings, crotchless panties, panties with side fasteners, thongs, panties with zippers up the middle....
She (not me) decided and still decides what to wear to bed and she decided and continues to decide that she will dress for bed each and every evening and that it constitutes an invitation to me to engage in intimacy... which she alone controls..
What she has arrived at in terms of a conclusion as to the most practical sleepwear for intimacy is a medium length night gown.. I mean to say there are exceptions but the favourite is a medium length night gown often in cotton and now never with any panties.. a position that took her MANY years to conclude as being not only acceptable on her part but preferable.. her wearing a nightgown is the invitation, while raising the hem of her nightgown is a very powerful bit of communication...
