Women only wear short skirts to attract men?

Misogyny at work?

This is what two different men have said to me recently - both men I respect (not any more!).

They don't believe me when I say I wear short skirts myself because I have what has been described as very slim legs. I have worked hard to keep my legs slim, lots of yoga and ballet exercises, and I think I look attractive in them which is, IMO, completely different to saying that I want men to look at my legs and admire them.

It is different, isn't it? I admire women who look and dress attractively, but I don't fancy them.

Can we discuss this issue? I didn't argue my point very well because I was tired at the time, but I could do with some good soundbites to prove to these men that everything in life isn't just about sex and attracting a mate!

I prefer to have my legs naked in the air so I can benefit from the coolness, at times certainly, but it does make me feel and look young, as I am. I even wear minis to work, and despite wearing a lab coat much of the day, I don’t think I am flirting with or perverting the thoughts of my colleagues, who are mostly women anyway, the few men in my workplace have never questioned my choice of clothing ever.

No women usually wear clothes for themselves, yes in some stuff they feel great, feel sexy but actually don’t want random people hitting on them. People tend to wear things that make them feel good, feel happy about themselves.

A person should have the freedom to dress as they wish, as long as it doesn’t breach any decency regulations.

Yeah, I'd say something like, "Even if that were true, which it isn't, I certainly wouldn't be trying to attract you", and then calmly walk away.

It's like we're not supposed to feel sexy unless we're willing to give it up.

I admit my style is more modest for this reason.

I just like wearing short skirts 🫠 like I'm not tryna impress anyone I just like wearing what I wanna wear. Everyday I get asked "why do you dress so weird" "why are you emo" and I honestly don't know what to tell them, it's just fun :p
