I do for sure. Lived in so many places that always felt like a hotel room. No matter what I did, they never felt like home.

@Ontheroad Same or Grandparents house

@Lostpoet That’s something! I find seeing little things that I love helps me feel better.

Because you have no history there? I think comfort mostly comes from familiarity.

I never knew a new house so I don't have a frame of reference. Either way, there are way too many factors that come into a play so every house feels differently anyway.
Lostpoet · M
@CrazyMusicLover Didn't the house you grew up in feel different from other houses?
This is where 'artsy' comes into play - as poor as artists are, their homes are always interesting and homey.

Im sure it has a lot to do with layout and those lil creative touches that bring a 'feel' together.

@OogieBoogie for me I finally realized, after buying an old home (100+ years old) with all the character that newer homes simply don't have, that it's not decorations, little pieces of art/decorations, furniture, etc. The moment I walked into the home for a tour, I knew it felt like home.

As I walked through it looking at all the details, craftsmanship, beautiful trim, etc., it took me back to the happiest times of my childhood in one particular home we lived in when I was a youngster.
