I'm beginning to feel not so beholden to my books
If I only consider all the money spent on them that is not enough to get me in the mood.
Putting books on a pedestal like I do often is a piece of folly not borne from books themselves, but from those cute memes you can find that say such things as how wonderful it is to lose yourself in the pages of a story. It's a sweet sentiment, but will not cut it for a person who feels that time is quickly coming to a close.
Books remain the most awesome part of the Trinity of Interests, but only if the time left would be felt to be grandiose would there be the sensed usefulness of them.
Nay I say, you can cover much more ground through videos, compressing vast time consuming material in just a few minutes. In Cioran's A Short History of Decay and all of his books that's what I see him doing with the whole weight and history of thought, compressing it, and making it all fit in pithy statements, that sparkle, oh that to me is a million times better than almost losing your wits and perhaps doing something dastardly with someone like Kant.
A small band of books will always be a part of things, like precious bedside books, but the majority of time will be used by either unadulterated enjoyment, as in music, or Learning Time Videos.
A balance must be maintained, finding that balance feels like walking on air.
