Yeah, I don't think people want to really know how you're doing when you're not doing well. Unless they are a friend.
It's a pleasantry, and when hearing you're not doing well, they have to be empathetic, or they have to think. Empathy does not come naturally to all people. Nor does taking the time to listen and care .
