I Sometimes Need Reassurance

Where does someone like me turn when nothing works out? In AA meetings they typically say things like "let go and let god" or "let god take the wheel" or some crap like that. What do you tell to an atheist? What do you tell to someone who is despised that talk? That wants realistic answers? Because hell breaks loose, yes I see the irony in that statement, I have nothing to turn to. Bad things happen everyday and there's no reason for it. It's not fate, it's not some dietys plan, it's not karma. It's just bad luck. And thinking positively wont necessarily makes things better, it's not a bad approach but things dont just get better automatically. Sometimes they never do, sometimes life just beats you down continuously. There is no justice, no good to outweigh the bad. So you're stuck. What possible good advice is there at this point?
