Is it possible to use a GIF for a profile picture?

I was on a site before i came here that allowed a gif as profile pic.

You can now upload videos.

I suppose there are different reasons some use a Gif, but I like it when I can see who I'm "talking" to. To each his own I guess, but since you asked, I like pictures.

If you take a screen shot of it sure - can’t be animated

It only uses the first frame on profiles. So no animation.

That would be resource intensive. I don't think they'll do it.
They already compress the images people upload here to the smallest size possible.

GIFs would be freaky here as pfp. You need the right settings for it tho.

Selfies, yes. Gifs, I believe too, though they're only animated when opening the full version from your profile page.

The concept is possible. They should add it if they can for a change.
