I don’t want to show a picture of me

I’ve always liked the anonymity of this place and we are in control of how much of us we show. I’ve felt obligated to show my face before because someone else has and then regretted it because they disappear. Now I only do if I feel like I can trust someone, which is rare.

Some people feel entitled to getting whatever they want to fulfil their needs, you’ve been clear and people should respect your wishes.

I do not show my face either, even in private messages. The Internet is just not safe.

This also means I am very vague about my hobbies, place of residence, etc., and never post even PMs giving future absences from home - which for me are rare beyond day-trips.

Photographs showing your face can even be used against you by being attached to pornographic images or used to support identity-theft.

are you talking about being private to just people or to the company's who own your phone or internet kinda thing.. they are two different things there.. company's you will have no privacy at all and as for the other that also slips away.. look at facebook or twitter or . and we could go on..
and good luck with that .. privacy as we knew it is gone...and this is old data. they can do much better now.. i would worry over private people more than the government . corporations are just out to make money on your data

Been on the Internet forever. Long before myspace and instant messages. Images shouldn't be expected.

Not that there isn't a place for them. Yet you don't hug strangers in real life either.

There's a place and time for it though.

Just be yourself, do what makes you feel good here. No one should feel pressured to show or not show pictures of themselves here.

Dissapointed. But dont blame you. Totally agree.

In my early days here I put quite a few pictures of myself and a couple of people close to me. I've had all sorts of trolls, would be stalkers and incels bullying or threatening me. I've removed all those photos and posts that refer to members of my family (or at least, those I could find). I learned my lesson

Right, I don't fucking blame you. Back in the days of MySpace. (This was way before Facebook. Yeah, I'm old) My photo showed up on there and I didn't even have an account.
