follow the dry sands to
the short wall around the deep well full of cool water
and rest in the shade of the coolness of said wall
while the sun blazes above in the heat of the day
and to the birds above you are a speck on the earth
and to you they are one in the sky above far above
and the wind whistles through the trees and the cracks of the stones
and the coolness of night overtakes you
the thinness of your coat in the summer's day fails when night falls
through the sand crawl the glowing scorpions of tiny feet and larger hands (if you could call it that)
and you welcome the snuggles of a stray but overly friendly cat
as an owl hoots in the distant night and the moon glows with it's blue light
you sleep to the sound of your own breathing and soft snores
g'night
