We have motion lights at the top and bottom of the stairs.

@SW-User I installed them when we had the dog, she would lay on the stairs and she was black.

@Degbeme very clever way to have kept everyone safe on the stairs. even with or without a pet, it lets you know when someone's on the stairs :) like a security measure.
