I'm at my most dangerous early in the morning...
So America, prepare yourselvesđ
Dear Voter, You Are Being Gamed â And You Donât Even Know It
And yes, it is you who is being gamed - every single one of you reading this â all across our country.
You are being played.
Not by the economy. Not by âthe other party.â Not by some mysterious force you canât see.
You are being played by your representatives in Congress.
If you donât think you are, read this.
You are being gamed because Congress knows exactly whatâs broken - and refuses to fix it.
Right now, long term interest rates are rising. That means your mortgage is rising. Your credit card rates are rising. Your car loan costs are rising. Your business borrowing costs are rising. Your grocery prices are rising.
This isnât random. This isnât accidental. This isnât âjust inflation.â
Itâs happening because the federal deficit is exploding â and Congress is refusing to fix the structural problems driving that explosion.
The Treasury just made a surprise move to temporarily push down long term rates. It worked for one day. Even the Treasury called it a Band Aid â not a fix .
Why? Because the underlying problems are still there, untouched.
Hereâs the part Congress hopes you never learn: the fixes are simple.
They are already drafted. Already scored. Already modeled. Already sitting on desks in Washington.
Congress could pass them in months.
But they donât - because fixing the problem carries political risk. And finger pointing carries none.
So they blame each other while both sides avoid the fixes they know are necessary.
That is the game.
And you are the one paying for it. Worse yet, you are allowing it. You can fix it.
Here are the fixes Congress is refusing to do - even though they are the only real solution.
A. Roll back the large corporate tax cuts
This alone would:
⢠raise hundreds of billions over 10 years
⢠reverse the drop in corporate tax receipts
⢠stabilize revenue growth
The legislative text already exists. Congress could pass this in weeks.
B. Fix Social Security using known measures
CBO, SSA, and bipartisan commissions have already scored the options:
⢠lift or eliminate the payroll cap
⢠gradually raise the payroll tax rate by ~1â2%
⢠adjust benefit formulas for high earners
⢠tweak COLA indexing
Any one of these fixes the shortfall. A combination solves it for 75 years.
Plug and play solutions. Congress could pass them in a few months.
C. Fix Medicare using known measures
Medicareâs imbalance is also well understood:
⢠increase Part B premiums for high earners
⢠reduce overpayments to Medicare Advantage
⢠negotiate more drug prices
⢠raise the Medicare payroll tax on top earners
Already modeled. Already scored. Already drafted.
Congress could pass these in months.
So why donât they? Because the game works.
Congress avoids action because:
⢠voters donât see the structural mechanics
⢠voters only see symptoms (prices, mortgages, headlines)
⢠voters believe the finger pointing and voters join in with the finger pointing
⢠voters donât demand structural fixes
⢠voters donât make reform politically unavoidable
So Congress protects itself instead of protecting you.
Memphis pays the price. Tennessee pays the price. The entire nation pays the price.
And Congress keeps playing the same game because the public hasnât stopped them.
Dear Voter: this is your wake up call.
You are being gamed. You are being played. You are being distracted. You are being kept in the dark.
Not by accident - by design.
Congress knows the fixes. Congress refuses to act. Congress points fingers. Congress protects itself. Congress lets the public absorb the damage.
And unless you demand accountability, nothing will change.
The call to action
Tell your representatives â clearly, loudly, and repeatedly:
Fix the structural problems. Fix the deficit drivers. Fix the long term interest rate pressure. Fix the programs you have neglected for decades.
And tell them:
If you refuse to act, you will be held accountable when the public next votes.
Not as a partisan threat. Not as a slogan. But as a simple statement of civic responsibility:
**Congress is where the problem is. Memphis is where the voice begins. Tennessee is where the momentum grows. America is where the solution must happen. Fix it - or face the consequences of ignoring it.**
ONLY YOU CAN DO THIS â YOU, THE VOTER. GET BUSY AND DEMAND A FIX.
