Guys, what’s up with this?

I just got back from the grocery store where I overheard two women, one about 20 something and the other in her 50’s talking.

The younger one commented to her mother(?), “You should have told me when you get a husband the ears are sold separately”.

The mother just shook her head and said something I didn’t quite catch, but the mixed look of disgust and frustration was plain on her face.

I don’t get it – got any idea what that was all about?
