Don't leave your phone in your car...

I was having dinner a about an hour ago, just sitting in the living room watching the news and enjoying a bowl of soup, when I head someone outside unlocking my front door... suddenly the door burst open and in strode my ex. with a very worried look on her face.

Seems my children had tried to call on Sunday and wish me a Happy Father's Day, then texted me when I didn't answer (they know I lose track of my phone).

One called me five times, the other three and I didn't count how many texts they sent through the afternoon, night and today.

Finally they got seriously worried and one of them called my ex. My ex tried calling and texting and then came over expecting to find a body.

We had a good laugh, I called my kids and they both chewed me out thoroughly, then we laughed and had a good laugh or two.

Don't leave your phone in your car and completely forget about it.

I leave my phone turned off most of the time. Hate it when the battery dies. Also hate all the ads on it, also hate it when my internet runs out, and apps steal time or it does an update and then I have to search around in millions of menus trying to turn sh_t off.
I hate cell phones.
The most calls I get on it are from the phone company trying to sell me something.

I can't, mine hangs on wall and its been there at least 50 years or better. The phone came with the house and its still in use today

@HumanEarth you know, I never had a good outlook on phones when they were phones. My attitude was always "If I want to talk to you I'll drop by for a cup of joe and have a talk" I always have felt they were an interruption. Dad called them "The devil's instrument"😁

I've carried that over to these new fangled things and so I "forget" them here and there.

I never answer the thing, I let the answering machine pick up and I listen and see if I want to talk to the fool or not

Can't do that with a cellphone, I hate them things with a passion. My kids got me one once, were on the hwy driving. I said "call me, I want this thing works" it rang and I thrown it out the car window. Then I said "I guess it didn't get the message. I don't do cellphones!" And my kids where pissed off at me.

But they backed off for a while.

@HumanEarth my hero!
Weren’t you wondering why you weren’t getting any calls or texts to wish you a Happy Father’s Day? That would have had me checking my phone. 🤔

@OlderSometimesWiser I had a passing thought, but it's Father's Day, not Mother's Day... in my head missing Father's day isn't a biggie.

My problem is that I'm always forgetting my phone somewhere - I think's it subconsciously on purpose.

After seeing and hearing the panic I promised to do better.

So many people's phones are like an appendage...at least they care!

Unless you’re feeling like nobody cares. 😂
