I Am Smart Enough to Know I Don't Know It All

If you're stupid enough to hold yourself higher than me because of your age remember this: Being stupid for a long time doesn't make you wise or smart, it just makes you old and stupid.

It's like saying a volcano is more geologically stable than a mountain because it's been through more eruptions.

Being old and wise is not about being smarter or in anyway superior, it is about making enough mistakes you can say, "Whoa, I ain't doing that again." You can either listen to those who have made the mistakes or simply make your own.

A part of that is also exposing yourself to possibilities and taking risks. A 24 year old traveling across the country on a motorcycle could be more wise than a 64 year old working a desk job.

The difference is, you have never been 64, I have been 16. I have also buried 2 babies, been in the emergency room and given 9 units of blood. Raised a son, bought a house, wrote 3 novels, hitchhiked and have seen way too much death. I have seen many just slightly older than you whose body was left in a swamp thousands of miles away on foreign soil AND many other things there isn't room to put here. I am not minimizing anything you have learned, I am simply saying with luck you have a lot of years ahead to do that. I most likely don't.

There are different kinds of people on this Earth, knowing a lot of things doesn't make you smarter than someone who knows less things. Someone who memorizes facts is not as smart as someone who uses facts.

I don't see anything smart by calling other people stupid, and definitely not smart if being rude is a choice you chose..
