Remember When Movies…
Had to really earn their box office numbers? Between 1998-2003 there were only like two films that grossed $1 billion worldwide, unadjusted for inflation of course. Those two movies were titanic (1998) and the lord of the rings, the return of the king (2003). But now it seems with the price of tickets going up, budgets for these films increasing and now most theaters having multiple screenings of the same movie playing at the same time means that nearly every year there is a film either grossing $1 billion or close to it. Back in the day $600 million is where most films ended up. Today that is what most movies have to make just to break even. Oh and don’t get me started on how the quality of movies have fallen too… 🤷🏽♀
