And since i always answer my own questions, usually before I ask them
Affectionto me has very little, if anything, to do with physical touch. It has to do with how you treat me. How you speak to me. How you behave around me. You show your affection through telling me how you feel about me. Through pet names. Through the wording you choose. Things that you know will give me warm fuzzies without ever having any expectations tied to them. When things become physical, that, to me, is intimacy and is a different level than affection. Affection is words of appreciate and regard.
Giving me attention as someone you love goes back to my idea of affection. When you take interest in what i enjoy or what I'm working on enough to ask questions to help you be as interested or excited as I am, that's giving me attention. When you tell me what you appreciate about me, that's giving me attention. When i am given the space to be in your thoughts to want to actually and sincerely know and ask, that is attention to me.
For me, neither have anything to do with anything physical. They are both very mental and emotional to me. As i am self reflective, i account this to always knowing the physical needs and wants of others (men) and an expectation of that physical nature in a relationship, but rarey having any man truly care about me enough to simply be interested in me as a person with interests, ideas, thoughts and dreams. The physical has always been the dominating interactions in my love relationships and i really want my ideaof what these are, not the ones everyone else thinks they are.
