They say it's cheaper to date a mechanic than to pay one
Or at least that's what my dad said 😂 one of the last times this girl was over at my place, we found her window shattered when she went to leave. It was the rear passenger glass & luckily the glass was still intact but simply hitting a bump hard enough would've made the glass fall apart completely. I carefully cut & placed packing tape on both sides to hold it together temporarily. We don't know what happened but I felt bad since it happened at my place. She told me not to worry about it but especially being a car guy, I had to help.
She said she'd ask her brother in law & he wouldn't charge much but I was still like why let her pay someone else when it's something I can easily do 🤷 so I called a bunch of places trying to locate where I could pick up the glass ASAP & at a decent price. I got it for $90 but I should've went through my dad because afterwards he told me he would've got it for $50 😂 I just didn't ask because I didn't wanna bother him or have him go outta his way.
We took her car to my dad's so I could install the glass there since that's always where I go to work on cars. I mean he basically runs his own shop out of his house so I'm lucky enough to use it whenever. My dad came out & helped like he often does without me ever asking. It's always cool to work on stuff with him though even if it's simple. I definitely appreciate the help & I'm sure he just does it because he can't help it 😅 I'll be the same way with my kid lol. It's a dad thing.
She keeps thanking me now but honestly I thank my dad because I wouldn't have the skills, the knowledge, or the tools to do things like that in the first place if it weren't for him. I mean to me it was something simple & easy... but I also understand that most dudes these days won't even change their lady's oil. So I guess I can understand the appreciation. I'm just glad I was able to prove I'm useful 🙃😂
