I think my "dad style" is probably heavily Chicano-inspired

Well I AM Chicano so idk if "inspired" is the right word since it's just my heritage 🤷 but like yesterday someone made a joke when they passed me & said "oh shit, a real life cholo!" 😅
Even last week someone asked me if I was a cholo for Halloween 🤣 I was like "nah I'm not wearing a costume" & they were like "oh sorryyy" 😅 so that was hilarious.
The other day I was even wearing a bucket hat (like I've been doing for years) & someone told me I look like the lowrider logo 🤣 which if you don't know, is this
Lowriders were my first love as a kid. My dad saved all his Lowrider magazines from the 90's so I grew up on those. I don't try to look like a lowrider logo or like a cholo but I can kinda see how I might've developed the style as my roots.

I kinda think my "dad style" started setting in when I had Naya because I got more simplified. I didn't see a reason to spend money on streetwear or "cool" brands as much anymore. I still sometimes buy something pricey but I honestly like subtle & clean a lot more than brands or flashiness nowadays. I feel kinda weird now if I dress like me from just years ago 😅 makes me feel like I'm in my early 20's... & I was an idiot in my early 20's 😂 I might still be one now for all I know. But now I mainly like simple shirts, flannels, classic shoes, nice jeans.. I just randomly bought starch so I'm about to go buy an iron for the first time in my life because I wanna start ironing my Levi's. I can tell I do still dress like I'm kinda young but when I look at stuff I USED TO wear I'm just like "wtffff why did I think that was cool? 😭" looking like a teenage adult lol.
Honestly as a kid I thought my dad looked kinda boring in his flannels & now here I am with so many flannels in my closet.

I'm sure a lot of this thinking is relatable though I know most of us grow up, change our style, then cringe at our old stuff 😂

In 2003 I had an s10 with a 3/4 drop, rollpan, billet grill and I cut the air box on the 4.3L engine. I used to beat all the boys in their dumb crustangs.

They'd tell me to give my brother back his truck. I'd tell them to give their sister back her car.

@ScreamingFox damn sounds like a nice S10. I've always like S10's honestly, they're underrated. Did you have one of the 90's style boxy styles or one from the early 2000's? I like both but the 90's ones make me wanna see them as mini truck lowriders 🙃 with the dancing bed in the back would be the cherry on top.

"Give their sister back their car" is a great comeback though 🤣

@ChiefJustWalks I have had a couple S10s and an S10 blazer. My dad was a car guy so it was junkyard creations. I had an 86 and a 93, then a 89 blazer, then I got the 01 that I did all the work too. I got hit so then I got an 02 I did most of the same too. I was mini truck crazy in my youth. Even had my truck in mini truckin magazine in the readers rides 😆

Lowriders are fun. Throwing sparks. I don't see many anymore but I live in rich old white people land.

I hate that they quit making mini trucks. It was a lot of power with not a lot of weight. And a five speed, 4.3 could take most other cars in that time, even imports.

And yeah I got teased but some guys thought it was hot they could ask me for advice about their cars.

@ScreamingFox that's so cool you had so many S10's 😅 I always thought the extended cab ones with the sideways tiny seat in the back was kinda cool just because it was weird & unique. I've always liked shit like that. I've still never had a lowrider myself but I want one soon. It's getting closer to that time 🙃 luckily I live in a place where it seems like most people are Mexican or at least part, plus Arizona is kinda known for its classic cars since we don't gotta worry about rust out here plus we have the Barrett Jackson auctions in Scottsdale. So it's pretty regular for me to see lowriders out & about & it still never gets old.

But yeah it sucks that the US market just wants bigger & bigger vehicles. All the surviving mini trucks are all at least mid-size trucks these days & that's bigger than what mid-size trucks used to be.
I always like a chick that knows cars though lol so it's not a bad tool to have in your belt
