My daughter's Hot Wheels collection

I'm so happy that she loves her Hot Wheels 🙃 she's always bringing them to me, then handing me one so I can play with her. She even tries to copy my "vroom" sound. She calls them "car" now except she doesn't know how to pronounce "R's" on purpose so she always holds one up & says "cah". As a car guy, I find it soooo adorable & I'm proud that she already knows what a car is 🥹

She maybe has around 50 so far. Some are missing from the pic because some go missing & then they resurface lol. Similar to the 2 Yoshi's & the Scooby Doo, she has Princess Peach too but I put it away so it'll stay in good condition for her when she gets slightly bigger. Those are actually Hot Wheels too but they're $8 instead of $1.

We even have a matching pair. She's got the purple classic Corvette & I got the blue one 😌 what makes it a bit cooler is mines a premium & hers is an anniversary edition so they're both unique.

& As an honorable mention: the ice cream truck might be her favorite. She has 2 versions of it, a Mexican Fajita truck & the Cookies & Milk version. She likes both but she plays with the Cookies & Milk the most. My brother & I had the same ice cream truck as kids (older design of course) so that one is nostalgic for me. I remember when we first realized there was a guy standing inside the truck & we thought it was sooo cool 😅 then when I first learned how to read, I read the words on the truck for the first time & discovered it was an ice cream truck. My brother & I got so excited over it. I guess that's a big part of why I collect in the first place. It makes my inner child happy.

Here's Naya's though. Personally I like the blue one because fajitas are awesome

These share interests are very important. And will affect her the rest of her life.

Good you are pushing this. Don't be surprised if she turns out a bit of a tom girl though. That's a good thing.

@DeWayfarer I don't wanna choose her interests for her or anything but yeah I'd be happy if we share some interests. I hope she likes cars like me but if she grows up & doesn't care about them, that's fine too. But I'll definitely be one of those dad's who teaches her anyway. I want her to know how to take care of her cars & respect them at least, even if it's not a hobby of hers

@ChiefJustWalks She can't help but want to be interested in what you are interested in right now. Everything about you is now interesting to her.

You are her role model... now.

Later it will be different.

She's like a sponge soaking up anything near her now. Eventually the sponge fills up.

What is good is that she is a very very thirsty sponge, with lots of "good" stuff to soak up around her.

Not good for a kid to be soaking up acid. Nor is it good for a kid to not be a sponge at a young age.

Think of it like you are building her a stage to be used later. What she does with the stage is up to her. The example though of a stage is there. She might even tear it down. There will always be certain parts of the stage she keeps.

Yet if she doesn't have a stage at all, there will be nothing there for her to keep. She will be totally on her own in building her stage. If she builds a stage at all.

That later is a very very hard life.

I have had to build my own platforms in some very strange places. It doesn't always work out. And there never was a stage, in full, in any of them.

Yeah I was taught how to build platforms. Yet never had the time to learn how to build a stage. My parents were divorced when I was two. There was only a platform there for an example.

No stage, no audience.
