I Am Me

[image]
I'm an observant person, I've always been that way. It could be because I'm a small town girl and basically always noticed what was happening all around me. My house was filled with love and 5 other siblings. I adored both my parents but I always knew I was my Dads little golden girl, his pride and joy. I grew up along a mighty powerful river that was fascinating to both the town folk and tourists. Surrounded by more natural beauty than you could ever imagine.

When I moved into the city some years ago I found that people weren't so friendly. Their expressions were often cold and expressionless. They would be so wrapped up in what they were doing obviously having no time to even smile. I remember the first time I smiled at a stranger they appeared to be taken aback. Probably wondering where on earth did she come from.

The smog, noises and constant hustle and bustle weren't to my liking. People jostling you, cutting you off or just being downright rude. Especially nosy neighbors or rude inconsiderate parents who would allow their children to run almost wild and unruly with absolutely no discipline.

I've since moved and love my privacy now in the rural city outskirts. Just not having to worry about some voyeur watching me as I drink coffee on my sundeck with barely anything on. It's all about the freedom of just being yourself and never having to worry about anything else. I like being the person I am because I'm comfortable in my own skin.

I can feel the sun on my face, the wind in my hair and raise my arms towards the beauty of the crystal blue sky. Walking my 2 dogs without a care in the world. Just contemplating life, thinking about what my next story will be about. I see a fabulous sunset as I'm walking towards it witnessing the array of magnificent colours.. Perhaps just sitting in awe as the sun rises above the tree line the beauty leaving me speechless and almost holding my breath.

Knowing that I'm vitally alive out here, where the air is almost pure and I'm free to just do as I like in the privacy of my little piece of this beautiful world. There is always that precious thought in your mind that you've come full circle in your life. The appreciation factor is magnified 100 fold by the knowledge that you are at peace within yourself.

An inspiring photo ( yours?) and stirring words. I will be headed out soon to get lost in the woods myself for a little while and hope to find a scene so serene it stirs the embers in my soul and reminds me there are places such as this and people such as you ...That may be waiting just around the bend.

You have reminded me of a poem I haven't read in a while ..

The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;—
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon;
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers;
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not. Great God! I’d rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn;
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;
Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathèd horn.
@GoodVibeGuy Oh how beautiful I absolutely loved that poem. I hope your morning and walk is awe inspiring as you venture out into the woods. Yes that's a picture of a sunset I was able to capture late last fall when the array of colours were at their zenith. Thanks for your words and that glorious poem. Have a fabulous walk.
