My friend doesn’t know how to comfort someone. Lol

I came to Korea a few weeks ago and am staying with friends. I’ve had moments of crying by myself and no one knew. A few days ago I was in the bedroom crying and my friend came in to let me know to go eat supper. I told him I’m not hungry and so him and his wife and baby ate and then after that, he came right back to tell me to go eat and then noticed I was upset. He stayed in there with me and talked to me for about 30 minutes or so. He was so sweet and genuine but he told me I shouldn’t cry or think negative thoughts. And that there are people worse off than me out there. He said all that but what most women want is just comfort. Someone to listen. Not someone to make you feel like what you feel is wrong. lol he was so sweet though. I think the way he handled it was a mix between his culture since he’s Korean and the fact that he’s a guy and it’s harder to express himself. lol

It's sweet of him for trying...in his way, by staying with you, he meant that he's there, holding space for your sadness. Even if he tries to run from it all, but he's still there with you...:)
