I'd like to know, do you think this site will have a troll problem like the last one? I've already seen quite a few.

Subs... I am not judgmental. And I would never discourage people from opinions. I love the differences. But I won't deal with disrespectful. Such as calling me names. I would never call someone a name even if I think they maybe acting like one. On the other sight I even had one call me a stupid c@&/ and I had never spoken to them before. He didn't agree with my opinion. I respect he didn't like my opinion. But being called names like that, especially when I try so hard to be respectful actually triggers a fear response see in me. I now block immediately. I also block minors, nothing against them. I just sometimes speak about adult issues.

Depends on who you declare a "Troll" and on what actions. I guess this site will have both in equal numbers. Both means the people termed as "Trolls" and the "Self Labeled Angels" who would take less than a minute to judge someone as a troll. Psychologically they are both the same disorders but on the opposite sides. If you see that this site allows anonymity in profiles, it means that one can discuss openly on issues which are difficult to discuss in social circle (we often live a masked life). Secondly the filters are there. So respecting the first aspect and using the second will never raise the so called troll problem.

Most people don't know what a troll is, if you only want to talk about certain topics and you don't like what someone talks about that is not a troll, that is your close mindedness. A troll is someone who roams around a site trying to be disruptive posting inflammatory arguments and such just to upset people. The only other kind of troll there is would be a cave-dwelling giant or a dwarf, typically having a very ugly appearance.

@lost I don't blame you, glad they got the block feature working, I was just thinking out loud about some puritanical judgmental people I ran across on "the other site" who understood and gamed the flagging system to get content pulled they did not like or approve of even though it did not violate the terms of service. I am sure those same people are just chomping at the bit to have a report system working.

Subs... exactly. But that is also why I am not quick to block unless it is someone underage. Sometimes it is just the way something I wrote may be perceived. I usually try clarifying myself. But if they are determined to have a fight I walk away. Disagreement is good and I encourage that, but fighting I can't do. I am so not a fighter.

Looks like they plan some pretty good filters, don't think it is a big issue. I never had an issue at the other sites with what people said, just ignored it. The only problem I had was that they would do it over and over and over again, wold just block those people.

Subs... I understand. But your comment got me to thinking about how my comment may have been perceived. I will do that often. I reread my comments. The problem with messaging is that all the nuances of facial expression and voice tone are lost. So easy for misunderstandings.

I'm curious, is name-calling against the terms and conditions? I mean, it's not a nice thing to do, but I definitely wouldn't qualify it as harrassment. That of course is not to say that you wouldn't be justified in blocking someone who called you something distasteful.
wakeupandsmellthecoma · 26-30, M
Sorry for the lack of clarification there. My definition of trolls are people who spam questions or replies, people with innapropriate profile pictures, etc. I'm not the kind of person to report over a difference of opinion.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
Lost you certainly are correct about that, I don't know how many times I have had conversations online in which we thought we were talking about the same things but we were not due to the perceptions of strictly text
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
the filters work well if people have access to and use the ratings correctly. For a little while ep did it automatically, if you used certain words it automatically classified your question but they dropped it.

Subs ... I agree I am not a fighter I certainly don't want to offend anyone. Unfortunately, sometimes I am trying to be humorous and it co.especially across as all wrong

@Lostithewater, I did not mean to say you were judgmental but was referring to some who were. A lot of people called trolls are simple rude people.

I think any kind of forum will have an issue with trolls, especially when photo uploading is enabled. I'm already buckled up though.
Watergirl · 51-55, F
I have blocked people who are just plain hurtful and full of unfounded, atleast in my opinion, hostile
Watergirl · 51-55, F
When I block it is just from me. I don't report or cause any trouble for them. I just don't like that fear trigger.
LilFoot · F
We most likely have a troll problem. I like two trolls battling, but we have too many trolls
Watergirl · 51-55, F
The filters will help but not absolute. I did the same as you. I am glad we have the block option here now.

I didn't see Billy till now, so I guess they have a Tor blocker installed here.
Watergirl · 51-55, F
If you build it...they will come. Dang that dated me a bit. Lol
SW-User

SW-User
