I believe that everyone should be forgiven IF they show remorse and change their behavior.
However, the old saying "To forgive and forget" is wrong.
"Forgive - AND Remember" - do so as to prevent a reoccurrence in the future; or, alternatively, "Forgive, and Protect - By Remembering."

@Quakertrucker those memories can be haunting and painful. Maybe forgiveness can’t remove them but can bring some peace
