It can be, but there are going to be some questions:
1) Have you spoken/seen your ex in person since the breakup?
2) Have you made any self improvements mentally or physically to prove to them you are not the same person they broke up with?
3) Have you tried communicating with them in any other way since the breakup?
4) What exactly is it that you want from your ex? Do you want to be friends, or can you be something more?
5) Have you made peace with what happened and have you moved on? If it has been less than a year, there will be serious doubts.
6) Will having you back in your ex’s life interfere or undo any progress or self-growth they have made post-breakup?
These are questions you should be asking yourself and questions an ex will ask themselves before they respond to any outreach.
