On Being Alone and Being Lonely
I am a writer. Writing is a solitary endeavor. When I write I am not alone, I am with the characters from my work in my head. They talk to me, they argue with me, and at times, they ignore what it is I want from them.
For me being alone is not synonymous with being lonely. For me, as the writer, I need to be slightly depressed to be able to reach into my soul and find that fire, that passion that fuels the story,
I crave the fullness of being alone. The sounds of silence are filled with the echos of my creations. Nothing gives me more joy than being alone and being able to slip into the world of fantasy that lives in my mind.
