This is what normal skin of a 30+ woman looks like without makeup! I thought this "rash" was some disease but turns out it's actually SO normal!

For several years, my cheeks, forehead, chin, and upper nose bridge have been plagued by a rough, bumpy, red "rash" that contrasts sharply with my otherwise fair skin. The affected areas feature abruptly enlarged pores and a strange, shiny, leathery, "burned" texture

The boundary is highly defined..? For instance, when I smile, a crescent-moon-shaped patch (think a "C" lying on it's back) directly under my bottom lip remains perfectly clear and normal, as does my philtrum. This red, bumpy aged skin also extends downwards right below my nostrils, too.

The bumps (there are hundreds!) aren't acne though they occasionally contain pus and at night, they itch and burn intensely, particularly around my mouth. I jokingly describe it as looking like I exfoliated inside a nuclear reactor. Dermatologists have already ruled out acne, rosacea, and eczema.

After asking an AI, asking if it's normal for 30+ women, it turns out this is actually normal, it's just age, I just assumed it wasn't because I don't typically wear any makeup at all, but most women my age do which is why I don't notice it on other people. One thing I'm not good at is hiding the texture, in certain lights my skin looks smooth but in others you can see every bump! I feel a bit embarrassed how something so normal is causing me such irritation LOL

Oh to be 18 again and having smooth facial skin that's the same colour all around! I felt like I wasn't doing something right by applying a thick layer of concealer to my whole face and ending up with a really cake-y look LOL

What us ageing women have to do!

@MyNameIsHurl yeah its not normal at all
@GoFish It's SO normal actually! Look up inflammageing. As we age, the skin is prone to getting red and rough!

I'm not 18 anymore, and that's okay! Imperfections are beautiful and people need to know what NORMAL, REAL skin looks like ❤

you sure you're not allergic to the makeup you are wearing?
@GoFish Nope! This is simply what NORMAL, and HEALTHY 30+ skin looks like!

My skin looked like this, in it's beautiful, mixed colourness/textureness, long before I started wearing makeup!

This is not normal. You need to go see a dermatologist.
Ngl, it's giving fungal acne. even though they said it's not. I'm sorry you have to deal with it though either way. i'll be 43 in a few days and my skin doesn't look anything like that at all. i have a lil dark circles under the eyes and the lower cheeks have a bit of uneven stuff from acne, but overall it's pretty smooth, no wrinkles or anything. a lot of people say for issues like you're experiencing or what looks like what you're experiencing they bought regular dandruff shampoo(head and shoulders in particular) and literally shampooed their face with it 2-3 times a day religiously for a couple weeks, let it sit for a few mins then rinsed it and saw improvements. i hope you get some relief. if anything i would say maybe get a second opinion from another derm.

After asking an AI

If you're otherwise healthy, this hould not be an issus, but you should not be consulting AI about what's "normal"
I had an issue years back when medications i was taking gave me a reaction on my face a few times that looked a bit like Chemical burns. it burns, it cracked and broke open and weeped when i smiled etc. and the ONLY thing that healed it was a cream called "Eucrisa" i couldn't afford the presciption but my doctors office gave me a handful of samples. it normally is for eczema but it healed my face like it was never there and i have no scars. maybe they can give you a sample of it and see if it helps? it has exactly one side effect. it BURNS? like mentholated kinda hot burn for maybe 20 minutes or so? then eventually it cools off, but it helps if you keep doing it. The prescription itself is like $800.00
