I collect cameras. I'm a diehard Minolta fan.

@HumanEarth I have an srt-201 but my favorite has to be the x700. I have 7 of them.
HumanEarth · F
I have the X700 but I love the full manual cameras, were you control everything.
I also have the Minolta Maxxum 5000, 7000 and the 9000.

@Musicman I understand. I've been wanting to do more serious work with the goal of maybe selling some in local craft shows. I've dabbled with it in the past but I'm finally at the point to try again
@JohnnyNoir Good for you! I wish you all the best. When you do I would love to see some of your work.

@Musicman thanks. Trying to figure out what people will buy is the challenge. I'm working on that

My starter camera was Cannon Rebel. Make’s beautiful photos without being complicated.
@Secretsmile That is a fabulous starter camera. 🙂 How do you like it?
Secretsmile · 51-55, F
@Musicman I love it just don’t have the time to use it much anymore
@Secretsmile I am sorry to hear that. What's holding you back?
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I've never used other than Canon, Nikon and Olympus, so either Canon or Nikon is fine. I used Canon more, so I pick Canon but basically, all I care about is how well they work.
HumanEarth · F
@CrazyMusicLover So I take it you never work with a full frame 11 X 14 sheet film camera and never been in a darkroom before before.
Well one day I have to borrow someone's digital camera and take photos of my darkroom and the whole process of taking photos with a camera thats over 100 years old.
See I very limited to almost no experience with digital cameras.

@HumanEarth That's correct. I only know digital cameras a bit. I'm actually not even familiar with professional light studios. I wish I had tried them more when I was in school.
HumanEarth · F
I never went to school for photography, I'm self-taught and taught by family members that was professional in 1960s and 1970s

Canon here. Not a brand snob. It's a tool not a status symbol. I have a decent body, 70D and a couple of good lenses.
@JohnnyNoir Excellent! How much is the subscription?
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@Musicman Adobe Photo package is $10/mo. KelbyOne is $20/mo. I have training through work for LinkedIn which has lots of courses too
@JohnnyNoir What is KelbyOne?

Canon T7 .... and on occasion a T2i ..... both do the job for me.
Go to lens is 28-105 but I also use the 50, 85 and 70-200 .... depending on what I'm doing.
Happy with Canon .... lightweight and versatile.

@AllAboutLaffs Excellent choices. 🙂🙂🙂🙂
My stepfather was a photographer in the Air Force, and I learned how to do dark room stuff as a kid. This being said, if I do anything with cameras it is buying cheap digital ones and removing the UV/IR filter to take specialized photos (similar to veinfinder apps), or I just buy twlecropic magnifiers or microscopes that clip onto my phone. I have no special need to do any of that right at the moment. So my favorite camera would be Samsung. And yeah, I can set up a lab and do film development but why?
SeekingConnection · 61-69, M
I've been very impressed and satisfied with my Nikon D3300.
@SeekingConnection Excellent! What is your favorite lens?
SeekingConnection · 61-69, M
@Musicman I have an 18-55mm one and a 55-200mm one, both Nikon. I actually find both of them a bit limiting and would have preferred something in between the two. I use the smaller lens more often.
@SeekingConnection So what would you like to have? I have a Sigma 18-300mm lens. It's a great all round lens.

I voted for Sony, but I have heard it's a nice brand in camera. But I own a canon 2008 camera. Soon After that, smart phones got in and I was still young to prefer selfies over nature's Pic so never had one after that. But now, I do like to see pictures of nature so I may get myself a Sony camera if I ever would want to do anything with camera.
@DanielsASJ I hear Sony is a very good camera.
all that I own are nikon; I'd kinda like to get a large format but I only know of those from hasselbad and... I think fujitsu? I think I might like to try a minolta.

For 35mm I've always been a Nikon fan... got rid of my Nikon FTN when I recently switched to digital, and now I'm working with a Nikon 5600... film processing and the cost of film got prohibitive.
Medium format I've had a Yashica Mat 124G for 50 years and am selling it as we speak. Same thing... film and processing got too expensive.

Nikon glass is superior over other brands, Leopold of Oregon supplies it for them.
