Is There A Ferry From Erie, Pennsylvania to Detroit, Michigan?

I'm thinking of going to a history museum in Detroit, Michigan but am in Pennslyvania. I as a rule don't do Ohio. I don't want to fly, as I can just camp in my van overnight, cheaper than a room.

Is there a safe way to get into Michigan from Pennsylvania without having to drive through West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana?
