The first time i woke up and hacked up a cat i knew i was old
When i realized the best time to have dinner is at 4, i knew i was old.
I remember becoming aware how old i was when i started to count how many parts of my body creaked and/ or hurt when i walked up the stairs.
I heard the kids in the neighborhood calling me "Old Lady ----------"...that hurt.
When i heard myself offer a complete stranger an old piece of hard tack candy from the bottom of my purse (It was Christmas candy and the time of year wasn't)
...and when i started carrying a big purse everywhere i went so i could have a medicine chest and replacement garments in there...i knew i was quite old.
