On here, awake way too early, wishing I was still sleeping, thinking of putting on an H.P. Lovecraft or creepypasta audiobook on youtube and try to get some more rest. Here's the funny thing, I hate modern horror movies, but fasccinated by classic horror stories and modern thrillers.

@NativePortlander1970 I am debating going back to sleep too. I have never liked horror movies. I prefer action and adventure. 🙂
@Musicman I have been on a war movie kick lately, as well as classic westerns, last night I was watching Battle of the Bulge with Henry Fonda, but apparently fell asleep the last hour or so, when I woke up the final battle was going on, apparently James MacArthur went from cowardly junior officer to kick ass battle leader in the time I was out cold on the couch.

@NativePortlander1970 My wife and I have a massive DVD collection and a good part of it is WWII movies. 🍿🍿😎
@Musicman I hsve a good DVD and VHS collection, as well as 650 movies I downloaded and stored on a portable hard drive, all in various genres. However my older brother has at least 4,000 movies on VHS, DVD, video disc (the old late 70's/early 80's Radio Shack system), laser disc, and downloads. We both also have the original theatrical Star Wars releases on VHS, he has my copies for safe keeping.

@NativePortlander1970 We still have VHS movies and two players.
@Musicman I got a more modern Zenith four head HiFi I paid $49 off of ebay, but I remember when you couldn't get a basic two head for less than $800, a four head HiFi went for about $1,100.

@NativePortlander1970 I remember those days. We paid $900 for our first player. I wanted the $1100 stereo version, but I wasn't paying the extra. We have two Toshiba's today. They are combination DVD/VHS players. They are both sitting in a closet. Is yours hooked up?
@Musicman Mine is hooked up in the bedroom, I have a small collection I watch after I get out of the shower before I get dressed. My Grandfather's first VCR was a JVC studio editor he got second hand from a local station for $1,900, he did some electronics repair work on a studio camera for them, a neighbor of his was the operator.

@NativePortlander1970 $1900!!!! 😳😳😳 I couldn't have done it.
@Musicman This was in late 1978, my Grandfather was so proud of it, showing he could now tape Hee Haw and watch it, and other shows later, I was 8 1/2 at the time, that editing machine was huge.

@NativePortlander1970 Wow! I still remember when Sony first came out with the 50" plasma TV. They sold for $10k. Five of my customers bought one.
@Musicman The local rent a center had a Philips 42" plasma for outright sale, at $25K, in 2002.

@NativePortlander1970 Please tell me no one bought one. I still have find memories of walking the isle's at the video rental stores looking for a good movie. 🤗
@Musicman The rental rep claimed he couldn't keep them in stock. Same here, I was loyal to Hollywood video, because Blockbuster kept switching up the return rules.

@NativePortlander1970 Hollywood Video was my favorite too. 🙂 Every Friday I would stop on the way home from work and pick up a movie or two. Then I would come home and pop a pizza in the oven and it was pizza and movie night. 🙂
@Musicman You got the full five days with Hollywood, with Blockbuster it felt more like barely four days.

@NativePortlander1970 Wasn't it 3 days at one point???
@Musicman I think so
