Why does it seem like some people want to crap on my dreams?
I was talking to my boss about how I’m tired of customer service and will be looking for other types of jobs. A customer overheard and both tried to tell me it won’t be better, and that what I’m going to be doing will still have me interacting with people. That I will also have to deal with “rude coworkers”.
I’ll be packing and shipping books. The boss over there told me, most people just put in their headphones and work, it’s a very quiet environment.
So many customers are rude, I will run into a rude coworker less. It’s also not customer service, it’s a warehouse. I also get paid an extra $2 per hour, and it’s just 4 10 hours shifts. Due to being short staffed at my current job, I end up working 6 days a weeks, 9.5 hour shifts. I also get left alone to work and can listen to true crime podcasts instead of dealing with crappy customers.
I understand why my soon to be former boss is salty, she lost her ONLY closing cashier. My old supervisor is the one who told me about the new job, she’s my ride.
Hopefully with more money , less obnoxious people daily, and a decent work life balance (yay, 3 day weekend!), my mental health will improve.
It’s just annoying when people talk down on something I’m excited about.

Yeah never let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn't do. I've been doing the same position at my work for years where I directly deal with the public. I recently started a new position that isn't public facing and was told even though the pay is way better it's more stressful and it won't last and I'd want to go back to my previous position. The job is 1 billion times better. Zero stress my only regret is I stayed in my previous position for so long xD
