What do you think of the usage of controversial symbols in artworks? When done not to deliberately provoke but rather as a form of individual expression?

@theAlchemist I don't care whether they're used but would contend that it's difficult to really know if the artist was using them to provoke or as a form of expression. Can't the desire to provoke result in an expression portraying that desire anyway? What if the artist isn't even aware of it?

What kind of controversial symbols do you specifically mean though? There's several that come to mind

@SW-User Regarding the fourth sentence of your reply to my comment - go to my profile - click on the profile pic - select "show full image" from the dropdown menu. The image is a left side screenshot of a 3D model I made. I don't quite understand the second and third sentences in your reply. Someone who sees the image will be provoked even if that is not the intention of the artist? That can and in some instances, will happen. I cannot control that and do realize it can be a consequence of choosing to use those symbols. That being said, I choose to use the symbols anyway for personal reasons.

@theAlchemist I've seen it

What are those personal reasons?

@SW-User The gammadion cross is a very powerful magical symbol (or "magickal" as the Crowleyites would spell it). To give a far more prosaic example, it is like fitting a motorcycle with a V12 engine. Which is the very reason why it was used by certain infamous 20th century mystical/political movement. Also, it represents the creative spiritual fire and movement of the universe.
