Why do customers complain to me about things I have no control over?

Like I got a complaint because the milk vendors made a mistake and several crates of milk got knocked over and spilt outside. They were cleaning it up and a customer complained about how they were in her way.

What do you want me to do? Go outside and crack the whip on some milkmen? I’m not some fascist cashier. Just go around, people make mistakes.

Now don’t get me started on the ones who complain to me about the heat/rain/snow

This is why people are leaving retail and stores are understaffed. I’m fighting tooth and nail to get a non-retail job. I’ve been filling out applications high and low- as long as I’m not in a retail environment.

My daughter works at our grocery store and people complain to her about the prices; like a 18 year old cashier makes pricing decisions :P

Best quote ever about retail work: "This job would be great if it weren't for the fuckin customers" -- Randall, Clerks

Yeah I had similar experiences when I worked in retail.

"The customer is always right"

Nah. The customer is usually an idiot.
