It reminds me of a time in college when I was in a dorm room where everybody but me was from the Subcontinent and I could not understand a word. Then somebody asked them to speak English so I could understand.
They were talking about the conflict in Kashmir.

Indian, Pakistani, Bengali, and Sri Lankan. My little college in Ohio had a lot of international students, and many from South Asia. Lots of computer and physics nerds. They used to play cricket outside my dorm!
The Pakistani said he sent money to the Kashmiri fighters. Sheesh! That was over 25 years ago. I hope it is better now.

@JoyfulSilence It boils my blood to read the last part. It's a sensitive topic for us because they invaded a part of Kashmir which they call 'Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK)'
I have not spoken to any of these people in decades. Even the nice guy from India I roomed with one summer. I have no idea what became of anybody. It was so long ago.
Now, my only Indian friends are on here.
I hope peace will eventually come to your region. The alternative is Armageddon, where everybody loses. All for land.
