I Make Mistakes

Something has been troubling me lately...

It's about this cinnamon and honey recipe that I've been passing around lately. If I've mentioned it to you at all, please would you read on?

I heard--I'm not sure exactly how long ago, but perhaps a month ago--about this cinnamon and honey recipe (1 teaspoon of cinnamon mixed with boiled water; left to cool down before adding two teaspoons of raw honey) to help you sleep.

BUT...

somebody very recently warned me about about a DANGER OF USING CINNAMON IN RELATION TO YOUR LIVER.

So I google searched it and apparently "Coumarin In Cinnamon Causes Liver Damage In Some People" (or "may cause liver damage in some sensitive people"):

[c=#666666]https://www.peoplespharmacy.com/2017/07/31/is-cinnamon-toxic-to-the-liver/[/c]

Ceylon cinnamon, also known as true cinnamon, would be the better choice as apparently it has around 63 times less coumarin (the substance that causes the trouble when it comes to liver damage) than cassia cinnamon. Although the better option, ceylon cinnamon is apparently significantly more expensive than cassia cinnamon.

My apologies to anyone I shared this recipe with and who has been using cassia cinnamon as a part of this recipe...

I've been doing this, perhaps for more than a month--for a brief period even mistakenly taking two teaspoons of cinnamon instead of one--and I've been concerned about my own liver.

I think I felt kind of careless or foolish for passing this information around without first checking it out myself.

I checked my cinnamon, it’s Simply Organic Ceylon. I also only use a quarter teaspoon in my toddies and cleanses.

@bijouxbroussard That 'sounds' good! 🙂 I wouldn't want to cause anyone harm.
@Andrew19EightyFive I appreciate the information. It’s good to know these things, because the sellers certainly aren’t forthcoming. Thank you. 🙂
