We do this by 'Binding' the Strong man (Matthew12:29). (Excerps taken from a syllabus and which I use till this day.)
Matthew 18:18 Chains have bound the unbeliever for so long, but even believers are bound because of lack of knowledge. If you know someone who has been bound for a long time, pray. Do not go around casting out demons. Remember you are taking authority over the Strong man and binding the strong man not the person that has been oppressed.
