A lot of my 'hopes for the future' have died. All sorts of reasons for that. Covid; illness; injury; fiscal policy of employer/country etc.
I've gone from being 'disappointed' to being 'cynical'. Partially due to the above, but also from having watched my country slide into decay. Politically and economically.
I've become a Grandfather. Which, while thrilling and wonderful, also leaves me worried for the world they'll grow up in.
