Being Right

Being right or thinking I’m in the right doesn’t feel as good as I thought, it never really does. Because that means someone else is wrong. Most people don’t like to be wrong or feel like they have wronged someone else because that means that they will have to apologize, that is if they care enough about that relationship.
So even if you were completely in the right it could still impact you in ways that you don’t want. I held on to feeling wronged and It caused me to shut down to someone. I didn’t free myself from that anger until I actually apologized for my part and my reaction.
I don’t know what will come of the relationship but I do know that I ran into an old pattern of mine and confronted it, again. This time a little quicker and with a little more grace. I didn’t let the old pattern cause the end of something because that surely would have solidified that pattern even more.

I don’t need to be right, I just need to be open and have more understanding.
