Days like today are important to think about and appreciate what it means to be an American.

When taken as a percentage of the whole world’s population we are quite fortunate.

Yes agree with that. When I went to Morocco I brought some little things for gifts. I gave a little girl who was about 6 years old and hadn’t started school yet a box of crayons. She looked and them and acted scared and confused. She had never used crayons and probably never saw them before. I got some paper for and showed her that she could color and she did it very cautiously. About 15 minutes later her mother gave her a couple of them out of the 24-pack box and put the rest of them up. She said she would save the for when she started school in a few months and give them to her teacher so the entire class could use them. I have never known any child here who didn’t at least have some crayons and paper or coloring books to play with. It just made me aware of all those small things that we take for granted.
