I Will Be Myself And Not What Others Want Me To Be

It's now been about a year and a quarter since I left my parents house. They said they wouldn't be the parents of a girl who brings home another girl. I saw them in the park as I was walking with my girlfriend Lauren about a month ago. They started walking towards us, looking pretty surprised. I looked them straight in the eyes, turned to Lauren, kissed her and walked away in the opposite direction with her. I'm not gonna change myself for anybody. I don't know what they wanted to talk to me about, but what's done is done. I'm perfectly happy living away from them, and when I get married, they won't be invited.

@LoveLove: Your parents must have some tolerance for your situation if they don't interfere with you living with your girlfriend. Maybe they'll relax about it in time.

They could insist you live with them unless you've had an attorney go to court to make you an emancipated minor. Some people take time to get used to things like this.
