What was the toughest job you ever had?

It could be a time of employment you had, a one time side job, a role in life, or a responsibility you were given or took. What was it and what was so hard about it? Remember that what seems easy to one person can be very difficult for another.
For myself I would say being a parent is hard because so many times I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing.
My current employment is difficult because it's so physically demanding. I'm a picker for online order fulfillment and I feel like my legs are going to fall off every day.

Weirdly, none of the employed jobs were particularly challenging, except sometimes physically taxing or annoying at times. I think that's standard for everyone.

I'd say my time in university was more challenging, we had skill sessions and personal development groups where I had to counsel people and at the start of all of this I was 18. Prior to this, all the experience I had was from friends/family and from stories I had read, so to see people share such vulnerable parts of themselves to me at a stage in my life where I was in my own mental conflict, it got overwhelming at times. I don't regret it though. I enjoyed it because I knew its what I wanted to do, but I would sometimes walk away holding onto the emotions shared with me and it took a while to navigate my way around that.
