Do I see myself in "other" or do I see "other" in myself? Or is it not even separated at all?
with "refract" I take it that you mean: You see something and it refracts into something else and not reflect back? :S

Maybe it's not separated after all..we all are same except for societal and cultural etc differences. :)
By reflect, i meant..if you are yourself with others, not absorbing their positivity or negativity or anything, but just being yourself and reflecting as it is.. Or do you absorb and get affected by people and situations and refract a bit or a lot? :)

to be honest.. I think this is one of the major modern societal and cultural health problems.... ID problems.. identity crisis.. existential crisis.. "Who am I?"
This paves the way for all sorts of behavior: People make foregone conclusions about other people, meetings, situations ect... Sometimes that makes people behave in ways they think others want to see instead of being "yourself" regardless of what others "see"... And I could probably throw out 10 more different examples in regards on how people (including myself) sometimes lie, or behave in certain ways to achieve desired effect or result ect ect...
But what that means again in regards of social and psycho social relations is:
When one behaves in ways that one usually would not, doesn't that mean that other people will than get to know "the facade" of the person.. The lie or the manipulation or whatever... Instead of the actual person if he or she was acting out of a honest sincere standpoint? In other words... To be able to act and behave so truthfully that anything else would be considered a lie?

Sorry for long sketchy post... Hope you at least get the gist of what I'M trying to aim at here xD

I just saw this! Very well said. If the person is acting out of a honest or sincere standpoint, it wouldn't be a facade, would it?! I guess it depends on situations. And ultimately it all comes back to what is a facade or an act and what is being yourself truly.. Our personalities are always changing according to our experiences. Even that should be taken into consideration. A person's behavior or personality a few years ago and today wouldn't be the same so people who know him/her might not really believe all those changes in him and consider all that a facade, and so that person plays the act like he/she was back then..but what does it matter to him/her now, coz he/she knows that its merely an act.

Exactly :)
Quite an interesting journey isn't it? :)
