Life doesn't work that way; outside of medical doctors (who should make even more than they do imo), scientific minds are notoriously unappreciated and underpaid. I watched my whole life as my dad got bullied by the intellectually inferior majority, and rarely got his due. And he is a somewhat successful chemist. In turn he took out his frustrations on me. We will all pay the price on this planet for our negligence and stupidity, but I no longer want to sacrifice my blood, sweat, and tears for morons.

Hey, you'll still be richer than their sorry assess, and that's what they care for. Working for the money shows a lack of interest. Hey, mathematicians, cosmologists, and physicists almost never directly help society. In fact, it takes several levels before their work reaches consumer market. And hey, when we invent the tech to leave to colonize the other worlds, we'll leave the morons behind :D

Maybe I will be richer maybe I won't. I know plenty of brilliant scientists who work in both academia and industry who are poor as fuck. If they start colonizing worlds, it will only be because we fucked over this one really badly. The really rich people who have been fucking everybody over their whole lives will be the ones to go with a few elite scientists mixed in. The thing about the rich is they only want so many servants. They also don't want too many smart and generous people like yourself to be successful because they have the potential to overthrow their greedy ass way of life. Finally the problem with morons is that they are not completely stupid, they just apply there intellect in a very selfish manner.
