What future space-probe mission are you most looking forwards to?

As in, a planned unmanned space-probe mission, so the Mars mission doesn't count. Missions that have already been launched don't count, so the Cassini data, Philae's later re-awakening, and the Pluto photographs don't count. Theoretical missions such as the Helium-3 harvester don't count either. But missions such as landing on an asteroid, Titan/Enceladus probes, and comet core sampling, do count. I'm most excited for the Titan/Enceladus probes. This has fascinated me for the longest of time! But the guy that's working on collecting samples from a comet... he's planning on using harpoons to do so. Let's hope he makes sure the propellant he uses actually works in a vacuum, unlike the folks at the ESA did with Philae... xD

The company Mars One is going to make a mission to Mars (it's already made, you can apply to go, seriously) where they're going to make a reality show of the people going to Mars to pay for the expedition. 2016 I believe. Feel free to google it, just look up the company, Mars One =)

I know about it. I even mentioned it. xD I said "a planned unmanned space-probe mission, so the Mars mission doesn't count" x'D

I feel as if it's a complete waste of research dollars to make a reality show. I do hope that the people they're sending are actually scientists...
CoolMike13
Oh shit, it's you. The brilliant girl. And btw, it's NOT a waste of research dollars, it's literally funding it, and making the expedition possible. It's a source of revenue, it doesn't waste money, it generates it. =)
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
No, I mean, it's a waste of research dollars if they're sending normal people up there, not simply scientists. I hope they collected their participants from related majors from good universities...
CoolMike13
They're not sending 'normal people' lol that would be RETARDED! They're sendign brilliant people with relatable fields of expertise to the situation. They're not sending redneck jimbo who's good with a shotty to friggen MARS, lol. They send people who know what they're doing to start an entire civilization there. We're colonizing a friggen PLANET! Not making t.v. =) T.V. just pays for the colonization =)
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
Oh good xD I've heard rumors they were sending normal people. xD It had me worried! Oh god this is one reality show I'd watch the hell out of xD
CoolMike13
No way, they would die a month into it, lol. You can't air deaths! lol. I mean you can but it has to be like meaningful, not 'hey, watch assholes die in space!' lol although... that would prolly get great ratings :p
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
How are these deaths not meaningful? They wouldn't have to air the death itself. They could say "so-and-so died today of cause x" xD
CoolMike13
They're not meaningful besides what we learn from how they die. They're humans, not sacrificial lambs. And And while we use those all the time, we don't ADMIT IT to the general public lol
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
Sacrifices must be made for the development and furthering of Science. We must honor those that gave their lives for the cause of Science! They shall not die in vain! Also, c'mon. It's literally something to die for. :D
CoolMike13
Lol are you kidding? So you're abig fan of say, Hitler? He advanced medicine 50 years single handedly. He did so by disregarding any human rights what so ever. By doing so, he's saved many lives. But could you, YOU, honestly torture someone, literally torture them, just to make the future better? I mean if it's one to save am illion, I get it, but what if it's a thousand? What if it's a hundred thousand? Technically given the numbers it's 'worth it' but ... could you TORTURE people for that?
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
There's a difference between volunteering one's life for science and being forcefully pushed into it x3
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
And yup, if they were consentful.
